How consignment with Kobra Comics works

From first contact to payout, we keep the process simple, transparent, and on a clear timeline.

  1. Tell us what you have

    Send us your list and photos through the form below or contact us to talk through your collection. We’ll confirm what we can take on consignment and answer any questions about commission tiers, service levels, and timing.

  2. Drop off or ship your books

    Bring your comics to our Whittier shop or ship them to us. If needed, we can front inbound shipping and deduct it from your sales later. We log your books into a Batch with itemized records that act as your receipt.

  3. Choose service level and sign

    Pick Standard, Express, or Premium processing, decide how you want unsold books handled after six months, and choose your payout method. Then you review and sign the consignment agreement so everything is in writing.

  4. We grade, price, and list everywhere

    We handle cleaning and pressing if requested, grading, photos, and detailed descriptions. Then we list your books across our shop and authorized online channels, manage offers, and adjust pricing as the market moves.

  5. Your books sell, you get paid

    When items sell and the payout window passes, we deduct our commission and service fees, then send your share by your selected method. You can see item status, sales, and payouts anytime through the Consignor Portal.

Straightforward splits and service levels

You keep the bulk of every sale. We charge a simple tiered commission plus a flat per-book processing fee based on how fast you want us to start.

Standard processing

Processing begins within 16 business days. $3 per comic
  • Ideal for steady collections and long boxes. We log each book into your Batch, photograph, describe, and list it across our sales channels. The $3 fee is only deducted when a book sells or when you request it back.

Commission tiers

You keep 75%–90% of the final sale price
  • Each comic is paid out at its own tier based on the final sale price. Marketplace and payment-processing fees come out of Kobra’s share, not yours. Your proceeds are the final sale price minus commission and the processing fee you choose below.

Consignment FAQs

Yes. You keep full ownership until a buyer pays for the book. Kobra has permission to store, photograph, price, and sell your items, but title stays in your name until a sale or purchase is complete.

Each comic has a six‑month consignment period that starts when it is first listed for sale, not when you drop it off. After six months, you can:

• Ask Kobra to make a purchase offer on some or all of the unsold books.
• Have your books returned (you cover the $3 base fee per returned item, any inbound shipping Kobra fronted, and return shipping/packing/insurance).
• Agree in writing to extend consignment or reprice.

If you do nothing after Kobra reaches out at the end of the six months, storage fees can apply and, after 90 days with no response, items can be treated as abandoned under the agreement.

The agreement is set up for an initial six‑month consignment period. During that time, items are not removed unless Kobra approves it in writing. If early withdrawal is approved, you need to pay any earned processing and priority fees, plus return shipping or pickup costs, before the books are released. Items that are already sold or committed to a buyer cannot be withdrawn.

Buyer returns are handled through Kobra. A sale is not final for payout until the return window and any dispute period have passed. For most items under $2,500, that means at least 14 calendar days after delivery; for $2,500 and up, at least 30 days. If a sale is reversed before that point, the comic goes back into inventory when possible. If a sale that has already been paid out later has to be refunded, that payout is treated as an advance and can be recovered from your future earnings or by direct repayment.

Kobra agrees to use reasonable care when handling, storing, and transporting your comics. But Kobra is not an insurer. You are responsible for insuring your own items and bear the risk of theft, fire, water damage, natural disasters, or carrier loss, except where Kobra is grossly negligent or acts with willful misconduct. If there is a covered loss, Kobra’s total liability is capped at your share of the most recent asking price for the item, minus any unpaid fees.

You’ll have your own online consignment portal where you can see your inventory, listed products, and completed sales in real time. Kobra still tracks your sales and payouts in a consignor ledger and pays out on a weekly cycle once funds clear and the return period passes. For items under $2,500, your payout becomes eligible at least 14 calendar days after delivery to the buyer; for $2,500 and higher, at least 30 days after delivery. You can choose Check, PayPal, Venmo / Zelle, or another listed method on your consignment agreement, and Kobra can combine sales across different batches into one payout.
